How it is measured
The index is based on the asking prices of 21,983 apartment sale listings across 111 areas, within a 6-month window, and refreshes once a month. For each area we take the median prices, not the average, so that one or a few very expensive properties cannot distort the result. Every comparison is made between listings within the same area. These are prices asked by publishers, not completed sale prices.
